Hundred Horse Chestnut
The company is located a few hundred meters from the legendary "Castagno dei Cento Cavalli".
Located in the Etna park in the municipality of Sant'Alfio, this multi-millennial chestnut tree with a height and circumference of the 22 meters trunk is considered the oldest and largest tree in Europe. The tree's name originated from a legend in which a queen of Aragon and her company of one hundred knights, during a trip to Mount Etna, were caught in a severe thunderstorm. The entire company is said to have taken shelter under the tree. In 2008 it was recognized by UNESCO as a "Messenger of Peace Monument".
